Giorgio Basta was Epirote - Giorgio Basta ishte Epirot.

 

Giorgio Basta was an Epirote Aromanian. 

He was born in Italy near Naples. Giorgio committed himself to the military at an early age, joining an Italian mercenary unit. He faced the Dutch uprisings at the end of the 16th century while fighting as a mercenary in France and Germanic countries. After years of military service, he joined the Austrian Emperor Rudolf II of Hapsburg's army in 1590 and advanced quite instantly to the rank of general.

The author says: This prodigy of valor was born in the small village of S. Martino near Taranto, a brave Epirote captain who fought for 40 years under the Austrian dynasty which also reigned in Naples, and who abandoned his homeland after Turks took over Constantinople

Giorgio Basta ishte një arumun Epirot.

Ai lindi në Itali pranë Napolit. Giorgio iu përkushtua ushtrisë në moshë të re, duke u bashkuar me një njësi mercenarësh italianë. Ai u përball me kryengritjet holandeze në fund të shekullit të 16-të, ndërsa luftonte si mercenar në Francë dhe vendet gjermanike. In his own book where he teaches people how to fight, Jorgos Basta does not mention Albanians because they did not exist and he never saw them. He mentions his father Demetrios as a fighter in Piedmont north of Italy.

Në librin e tij ku u mëson njerëzve si të luftojnë, Jorgos Basta nuk i përmend Shqiptarët sepse ata nuk ekzistonin dhe ai nuk i pa kurrë. Ai e përmend babanë e tij, Demetrios, si luftëtar në Piemonte, në veri të Italisë.

Italian Book of famous people in the Kingdom of Italy mentions the father of Giorgos Basta: 

"Demetrio Basta, a nobleman from Epirus, to avoid the persecution of the Turks moved to Taranto Italy and abandoned his homeland Epirus.  He was a commander of a regiment of Cavalry of Epirus"

"Demetrio Basta, një fisnik nga Epiri, për të shmangur persekutimin e Turqve u zhvendos në Taranto të Italisë dhe braktisi atdheun e tij, Epirin. Ai ishte komandant i një regjimenti të Kalorësisë së Epirit"

Famiano Strada an Italian priest and historian of wars writes about George Basta: "George Basta was originally an Epirote, born in a village in the Tarentine region, famous for his military knowledge, who we saw as the supreme leader of Caesar's army in Pannonia, from the Farnese school, and who was perpetually victorious over the Ottoman forces"

Strada has a photo of Epirotes fighting in his book, too. He calls them Epirote Ductores (Epirote commanders, leaders"

Famiano Strada, një prift italian dhe historian i luftërave, shkruan për Giorgio Bastën: "Giorgio Basta ishte një Epirot, i lindur në një fshat në rajonin e Tarentinës, i famshëm për njohuritë e tij ushtarake, të cilin e shihnim si udhëheqësin suprem të ushtrisë së Cezarit në Panoni, nga shkolla Farnese, dhe i cili ishte vazhdimisht fitimtar mbi forcat Osmane".

Strada ka edhe një foto të Epirotëve duke luftuar në librin e tij. Ai i quan ata Duktorë Epirotë (komandantë, udhëheqës Epirote).
