Founder of Biblioteca Angelica: Epirote Language is Illyrian - Themeluesi I Bibliotekes Anxhelika: Gjuha Epirote eshte Ilire

 

Angelo Rocca was the Bishop of Tagaste. In 1585 he became the editor of the Vatican Press for the Bible.  In 1604, he founded the first library in Rome which was named after him called Biblioteca Angelica. Biblioteca Angelica was established for the benefit of the general public, particularly scholars and individuals who want access to rare works. It contains roughly 250,000 books and 3,000 manuscripts (Latin, Greek, and Oriental).

In his book "Bibliotheca Apostolica Vaticana, a Sixto V Pont. Max. in splendidiorem commodioremque locum translata, Rocca wrote that the Epirote language was an Illyrian Language. This means that Epirotes spoke Greek and that Illyrian was a Greek language. At that time, Epirus was part of Illyria Graeca.

The author writes that the Illyrian language and Illyria take their name after Illyrios, the son of Polyphemos, the one-eyed giant son of Poseidon.

Angelo Rocca ishte Peshkopi i Tagastes. Në vitin 1585 ai u bë redaktor i Vatican Press për Biblën. Në vitin 1604, ai themeloi bibliotekën e parë në Romë, e cila u emërua sipas tij, e quajtur Biblioteca Angelica. Biblioteca Angelica u krijua për të mirën e publikut të gjerë, veçanërisht të studiuesve dhe individëve që dëshirojnë qasje në vepra të rralla. Autori shkruan se gjuha Ilire dhe Iliria e marrin emrin e tyre sipas Ilirit, birit të Polifemos, birit gjigant me një sy të Poseidonit.

He writes: " This language is finally familiar in Greece and Constantinople in the Ottoman court, and recently in Egypt it was heard with no ungrateful ears among the Memphite Sultan and the Mamluk knights..." 

Ai shkruan: "Kjo gjuhë më në fund është e njohur në Greqi dhe në Kostandinopojë në oborrin Osman, dhe kohët e fundit në Egjipt u dëgjua midis Sulltanit Memfit dhe kalorësve Mamluk..." 

He also wrote that the Macedonian language is Greek. Ai gjithashtu shkroi se gjuha Maqedonase është Greke.
