Ἑλίκρανον- the Ancient Name of Delvino - Ἑλίκρανον Emri I lashte I Delvines
Fabre d'Envieu French priest, theologian, philosopher, and biblical scholar writes that Delvino was called Ἑλίκρανον (Helicranum in Latin). He explains the word comes from ἕλιξ (helix—"spiral, curved, twisted")) and κρανίον head, summit. Delvino is part of Chaonia.
Fabre d'Envieu prift, teolog, filozof dhe studiues Biblik Francez shkruan se Delvino quhej Ἑλίκρανον (Helicranum në Latinisht). Ai shpjegon se fjala vjen nga ἕλιξ (spiral, i lakuar, i përdredhur")) dhe κρανίον, do te thote koke ne Greqisht por dhe maje mali. Delvina eshte pjese e Kaonise.
This has been confirmed by the Italian encyclopedia as well. Helicranium is ancient Delvino. Delvino was part of Sangiac of Ioannina.
Këtë e ka konfirmuar edhe Enciklopedia Italiane. Helicranium është emrit i Delvines se lashtë. Delvina ishte pjese e sanxhakut te Janines.
Colonel William Martin Leake, a British Army officer, and topographer in his book writes that Helicranium is ancient name of Delvino. Kolonel William Martin Leake, një oficer i ushtrisë Britanike, topograf në librin e tij shkruan se Helicranium është emri i lashtë i Delvines.
What does Helicranium/Ἑλίκρανον mean?
It is a word created by two words. ἕλιξ (helix—"spiral, curved, twisted") and κρανίον (head). The Latin word cranium comes from Greek κρανίον
But the word κρανίον in Greek is a type of Greek helmet too. It is a helmet used by ancient Greeks (like the picture above).
Also the word κρανεία means horns in ancient Greek. Sometimes those helmets had horns on them.
Çfarë do të thotë fjala Helicranium/Ἑλίκρανον?
Është një fjalë e krijuar nga dy fjalë. ἕλιξ (helix-"spiral, i lakuar, i përdredhur") dhe κρανίον (kokë). Fjala Latine Cranium vjen nga Greqishtja κρανίον.
Por fjala κρανίον në Greqisht është gjithashtu një lloj helmete Greke. Është një helmetë e përdorur nga Grekët e lashtë (si në foton e mësipërme). Keto lloj helmete quheshin helmeta spirale te lakuara.
Gjithashtu fjala κρανεία do të thotë brirë në Greqishten e vjetër. Ndonjëherë ato helmeta kishin brirë mbi to. (shih from me poshte). Epirotet ishin luftetare qe nga lufta e Trojes dhe me vone.
Later the name of Delvino changed from Helicranum to Delphy Δελφοί (Delphoi / Delphi) & Δελφύς (delphys - "womb"): Folk theories sometimes propose a connection to the Ancient Greek root delphys ("womb" or "hollow space in the mountains"), similar to the origin of the place-name Delphi (Δελφοί). Epirote toponyms are found at Delphi so this makes sense.
