Pilos a Greek Hat and Symbolism- Pilos Kapele Greke dhe Simbolizmi
Pilos is an ancient Greek hat. Demosthenes mentioned in one of his books that Greeks called Pilos Pilon or Pilidion while Romans Pileum.
While the pilos were linked with the working class, farmers, sailors, and artisans—they also possessed great symbolic importance. Pilos was the laborer's "uniform". In art, the gods Hephaestus (the blacksmith) and Odysseus (the cunning traveler) are usually represented wearing pilos to represent their roles as men of action and craft. Castor and Pollux, (sons of Zeus) the Dioscuri twins, are usually invariably represented wearing these caps. According to legend, the shape of their caps represents the two halves of the egg from which they were created.
At the Dodona there are sculptures with the ancient Pilos- Në Dodonë ka skulptura me Pilosin e lashtë.
HEPHAISTOS (Hephaestus) was the Olympian god of fire, smiths, craftsmen, metalworking, stonemasonry and sculpture. Romans called him Vulcanus. He is seen wearing a Pilos.
Greeks wore different types of hats. This is the Phrygian hat. It imitates the road from Mars to Venus during the great conjunction. The road changed from straight to curly. This is what Greeks saw in the skies.
Ancient Greek Macedonian shields had the Greek pilos (πίλoς or πίλημα) with a six-pointed star representing Vergina or Venus. Vergina referred to Venus, which was often in front, as well as the star formed when the five planets aligned in a straight line during the great conjunction. The star that was produced was spectacular. Jupiter is at the back, followed by Saturn, Mars, Mercury, and Venus at the front. In the left picture Pilos is called Pileos Dioscurorum (the Pilos of the Sons of Zeus)
Kausia aka "Pilos Makedonikos" worn by Castor and Pollux sons of Zeus is a Greek Macedonian felted hat. It is also mentioned in the Polybius military vocabulary. It was worn by Illyrians as well.
The Egyptian upper crown of Egypt ( or Pilos of Egypt) also imitates the road from Mars to Venus during the great conjunction.
